My work uses a blend of personal experience, humor, and interactivity as a means to create narratives and explore silly conundrums. For myself, silliness has the ability to disarm and reconstruct perspectives relating to my anxieties, fears, and doubts. The intrinsic worth we assign to jewelry is directly questioned by the playful nature of these pieces. Mixing precious material such as silver, with a toyetic material like flexible foam, it invites the wearer to reconsider their definition of value. This work is also interactive in nature. Rearranging, transforming, and redefining the composition encourages a sense of play. As seriousness can overshadow playfulness, this work aims to strike a balance between the two. Using personal experiences and a sense of humor, my practice serves as a playground for me to encourage interaction and choice, while challenging preconceived ideas about material and value.
